16. Karate Kid. He's had a hand in, or been the writer of, three deaths of different versions of KK (the original Val Armorr in LSH [Baxter series] #4, the SW6 clone version of Val during Giffen's Five Years Later run on the Legion, and the Retroboot version of Val during the Countdown to Final Crisis weekly series). I've read multiple times that Giffen thought that Val's "power" (being trained in all known forms of hand-to-hand combat in the 30th Century) was just stupid beyond words and/or didn't count as a real "power." Been wondering lately if he regarded Timber Wolf's actual powers (super-strength, -speed, and most notably superhuman acrobatic ability) as just as dumb, and if that might have contributed to the "buttmonkey" treatment of TW during Giffen's time working with Paul Levitz on the Legion. (Esp. since after Giffen left, T-Wolf started being written better.)

Peril of any handbook. No matter when you publish, there's always a risk that the very next issue a character appears in we get a retcon that changes things.
Always remember the gold standard: Barry "The Flash II" Allen received an entry in the original WHO'S WHO, issue #8 to be exact, one month before he died in CRISIS #8. I mean, they weren't going to spoil that story, but it was a pretty major status quo change that made his entry immediately out of date.

Well, the Venom/Symbionts corner of the MU isn't really one of the more thoroughly covered corners in terms of Handbook coverage, and that, along with the existing solicitations, suggests we should hope for more than one new entry. So there's that. Plus, I give 1 in 4 odds that maybe we'll see an update on Flash Thompson. If not, no big deal. (Heck, I'm still surprised that in 17 years, we've still only seen one Daredevil-centric handbook.)

Am I looking forwards to this? It's a Handbook, so of course I am. I just wish it wasn't tied to a pointless crossover starring a second-rate character that was in a movie that did middling success.
It's not called The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Except for the Parts I Don't Care For. Ever since that one guy over a decade again had an online conniption about Howard the Duck getting an entry...

Got my copy delivered to my Kindle last night. Here's who is covered with page counts:

Cypher (3)
Gloriana (Meggan Braddock) (3)

Krakoa (8)
Moira MacTaggert (3)
Magik (Illyana Rasputina) (4)
Wolverine (Logan/James Howlett) (5)
X-Men (10)
Overall, I thought it was well-done, but I was disappointed that apart from Broo it was all updates for previous entries, and only twelve entries total. But that's just me.
I can understand being disappointed by mostly updated entries and relatively little in the way of completely all-new material, but I think handbook fans need to keep some things in mind. (And I speak as a fellow fan, and not on behalf of anyone involved with the production of the handbooks.)
1. Ever since the end of the hardcover series ten years ago, the X-Men corner of Marvel is the largest ongoing and active corner that has nonetheless seen very little dedicated handbook coverage even as Handbook content became more sporadic. Outside of the Phoenix Force Handbook (which itself had a broad reach), the most X-related content could be found in the back of a handful of X-centric trades, and most of THAT was just new and fully updated versions of previous entries, such as on Rogue, Legion, Blindfold, or Cable. I think the only brand-new entries were on Loa, Indra, the Neo, and the Children of the Vault. Meanwhile, thanks to the movies, Avengers-related content received the bulk of attention.
2. The new handbook format, with its larger physical page-space requirements for both art and text, has meant fewer actual entries per handbook ever since it was introduced in 2016's All-New All-Different handbook. We got spoiled by handbooks with 30-40 entries in the old format; now we've been averaging around 20 enties. Also, no more half-page entries.
3. Also with the newer format has
