History:
Kryten is a mechanoid, designed and built on the Nova 5 spacecraft for use as a servant. However, when the crew was killed in a radiation leak, Kryten was left to drift in space for three million years until he was discovered by the crew of the mining ship Red Dwarf.

Initially, Kryten was programmed to be a subservient, rule-following butler. However, his time with the crew of the Red Dwarf led to his programming being expanded to include individuality and a greater sense of autonomy. Over time, Kryten became a loyal and valuable member of the crew, often providing comic relief with his fussy, uptight personality.

Abilities:
As a mechanoid, Kryten possesses a number of abilities beyond those of a typical human, including superhuman strength, durability, and advanced processing power. He also has retractable cleaning tools and can interface with various machines and systems.

Kryten's most notable ability, however, is his ability to access and mimic the personalities and speech patterns of other individuals, which he often does in an attempt to be more "human-like". However, this ability has been known to malfunction and cause him to act out of character.
