Charcoal

Requested by skippcomet. The first attempt wasn't really in Handbook format so I did it twice.

First attempt:

Charcoal (real name: Charles Burlingame) is a fictional character appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Peter David and artist Ariel Olivetti, Charcoal first appeared in Marvel Comics Presents #93 in 1991.

Charcoal is a former football player who gained his powers from a mysterious explosion. His body was transformed into living charcoal, granting him superhuman strength, durability, and the ability to manipulate flames. Charcoal's powers allow him to generate intense heat and flames from his body, which he can shape and control at will.

Charcoal is a loner who struggles with the consequences of his new abilities. His transformation has left him scarred both physically and emotionally, and he often finds himself at odds with society. Despite this, Charcoal has fought alongside various superhero teams, including the Avengers and the Thunderbolts.

In battle, Charcoal is a formidable opponent. His control over flames allows him to create powerful bursts of energy and shape his surroundings to his advantage. He is also highly resistant to heat and flames, making him difficult to defeat in combat.

Charcoal's abilities come with a heavy cost, however. His powers are fueled by his own life force, and prolonged use can drain his energy and threaten his existence. Charcoal must constantly balance his desire to use his powers with the need to preserve his own life.

Despite his struggles, Charcoal remains a hero at heart. He fights for justice and defends the innocent, even in the face of overwhelming odds. His dedication to his cause and his formidable powers make him a valuable ally to any team he chooses to join.

Second attempt:
Charcoal

Real Name: Charlie Burlingame

Occupation: Adventurer, former soldier

Identity: Secret

Legal Status: Citizen of the United States with no criminal record

Place of Birth: Unrevealed

Marital Status: Single

Known Relatives: None

Group Affiliation: Formerly a member of the Secret Defenders

Base of Operations: Mobile

History: Charlie Burlingame was a former soldier who was exposed to a mysterious energy while on a mission in the Amazon rainforest. The energy transformed him into Charcoal, a being composed of living flame and ash.

As Charcoal, Burlingame initially struggled to control his new powers, which included the ability to generate and manipulate flames, fly, and project intense heat and energy blasts. However, with the help of Dr. Druid, he learned to control his powers and became a member of the Secret Defenders, a team of heroes brought together by Dr. Strange to fight supernatural threats.

During his time with the Secret Defenders, Charcoal faced many dangerous foes, including the demon Mephisto and the powerful sorcerer Baron Mordo. Despite his lack of experience as a hero, Charcoal proved to be a valuable member of the team and helped save the world on multiple occasions.

After the Secret Defenders disbanded, Charcoal continued to operate as a solo adventurer. He has occasionally worked with other heroes, including the New Warriors and the Avengers.

Powers and Abilities: Charcoal is composed of living flame and ash, giving him the ability to generate and manipulate flames, fly, and project intense heat and energy blasts. Charcoal can also absorb flames and other forms of energy, making him highly resistant to heat-based attacks.

Equipment: None

Weaknesses: Charcoal is vulnerable to water and other substances that can extinguish flames. Overuse of his powers can cause him to burn out and temporarily lose control of his abilities. Additionally, Charcoal's powers are dependent on his emotional state, making him vulnerable to mental and emotional attacks.
