History: Clifford Skridlow was an unassuming college professor until he took on the persona of Doctor Detroit, a suave and confident crimefighter who operated in the streets of Detroit. Skridlow's alter ego was inspired by a local pimp known as Smooth Walker, who was killed by a rival gang.

As Doctor Detroit, Skridlow became a hero to the people of Detroit, using his intelligence and wit to outsmart the city's criminal element. He was aided in his crimefighting efforts by several allies, including the women of the Lulu's Room brothel and his trusty sidekick, Diavolo.

Despite his success, Skridlow's double life began to take a toll on his personal life, and he ultimately decided to retire the Doctor Detroit persona and return to his normal life as a college professor.
