History:
Michael J. Nelson was a janitor at the Gizmonic Institute when he was selected by Dr. Clayton Forrester to be the next test subject for his latest experiment: to send a man into space and force him to watch bad movies in order to drive him insane. Mike was shot into space aboard the Satellite of Love and, like his predecessor Joel Robinson, he coped with the ordeal by riffing on the movies with his robot companions Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot. He also formed close bonds with Gypsy, Cambot, and other inhabitants of the Satellite.
Over the course of his tenure on the Satellite of Love, Mike clashed with Dr. Forrester and his lackeys TV's Frank and Pearl Forrester, who were often the targets of his riffing. He also encountered various villains from the movies he watched, including Torgo, Rowsdower, and the Pumaman. In addition to riffing, Mike occasionally created inventions and performed musical numbers with the robots.
Eventually, Mike and the others managed to escape the Satellite of Love and return to Earth, but they continued to be pursued by Dr. Forrester and later his mother Pearl. Despite the challenges they faced, Mike remained upbeat and always ready with a quip.
