This thread if for cases where an actor plays two different characters in different continuities who are so close that they might as well be the same person. The characters can have different back stories but they must be so similar in personality that viewers of both will recognize the character in spirit.

Examples
Marlon Brando's Carmine Sabatini in The Freshman (1990) is essentially Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather (1972).

Steven Van Zandt's Frank Tagliano on Lilyhammer (2012-2014) is essentially Silvio Dante on The Sopranos (1999-2007),

Certainly true for a period of time. Though I would argue that post-Governor he's shown a bit more range, e.g. in Maggie, and it's easier to differentiate his more recent characters, possibly a combination of having children and not being able to do action sequences to the degree he could in his prime..
