This is one of two posts intended to pay tribute to the strangeness of Saturday morning TV. I might expand this later, but for now the goal is to highlight stuff that is a bit weird even by Saturday morning TV standards. This post highlights commercials, including PSAs and bumpers. Where possible include links to the commercial.
Saturday Morning Fever: Where I stole the name of these threads from. Various characters such as the statue of Liberty, Dracula, dinosaurs, etc dancing to promote NBC.
Raisins, Rice & Rye: British stereotypes talking in rhyme about their new cereal discovery.
And their further adventures:
The Chopper: A Fonz rip-off sings about the importance of teeth exercising.
Underoos: "Empowering" commercials with kids singing and dancing in their underwear.
This is an exception. Do not post links to these commercials here as they could get us in trouble. However they are easy enough to find on YouTube.
There's a Smart Way to Watch TV: Underrated comedian Lenny Schultz did quite a few PSAs (his act is so out there that Billy Crystal once told David Letterman he hated performing right after Lenny because he knew he wouldbn't be as funny)
