Re: Pop Culture Obituaries

RIP to a real hero: Mimi Reinhardt (born Carmen Koppel; 15 January 1915 – 8 April 2022), who drew up the lists for Oskar Schindler, thus helping save the lives of around 1,300 Jews during Nazi Germany. Reinhardt herself was Jewish so likely if not recruited by Schindler would not have survived the Holocaust. Instead she made it to 107. Admittedly not directly a pop culture figure, but her efforts did help inspire Schindler's List. And for someone who helped saved that many lives, I think we can go beyond the normal scope of this list.

Another one: Ron Galella, the paparazzo who hounded Jackie Onassis and who was largely responsible for modern day paparazzi. He was the subject of the excellent documentary Smash His Camera. Out of respect for anyone who liked his work I won't say anything negative right at this moment but neither will I say RIP. I acknowledge his passing.

RIP comic book artist Tim Sale. One of my favourite works of his is something that was critically panned: his and Loeb's Challengers of the Unknown mini-series, which tried to give the team more depth. https://www.dccomics.com/blog/2022/06/16/dc-is-deeply-saddened-by-the-loss-of-tim-sale

Re: Pop Culture Obituaries

RIP Bernard Cribbins, a British actor whose career stretched across eight decades, and whose work in British children's television alone endeared him to generations.  He also played Wilfred Mott in some cult British TV show called Doctor Who.  https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2022/jul/28/bernard-cribbins-obituary

RIP actor Paul Sorvino, an American actor whose career stretched back to at least 1970.  His best-known role was as mob boss Paulie Cicero in Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas.  https://www.theguardian.com/film/2022/jul/28/paul-sorvino-obituary

Both gentlemen passed away on July 28.
