5, 8, and 9 are Correct.
11 and 15 are Incorrect. Obviously someone does kick sand in the Atlas ad, but it isn't Mac.

What about 10?
Oh, and I double checked. Strictly speaking you are right, as Iron Fist complains about people not buying the comic, rather than not reading it, but in context it means the same thing.

Sorry, mnant to say that was was correct as well. Was a bit distracted this morning and forgot to type in that number in my reply. And true that strictly speaking he said buy.

Re: General Comics Trivia

From question 9, Spider-Man plays his own video game while Green Goblin taunts him. I suspect that, like the game itself, this ad probably didn't take place on Earth-616. The ad is slightly off: in the game, the webs come from Spider-Man's hed, not his hands. But I can see how that wouldn't be a good selling point.

Re: General Comics Trivia

A follow up to the last quiz, an ad series that deserves its own spotlight. A series of ads that were far superior to the products they promoted: the Hostess ads!
As shorthand, references to actual characters mean they first appeared prior to the ads.
1. Which actual Captain Marvel (Shazam version) foe appeared in a Hostress ad?
2. Which actual Captain Marvel (Kree version) foe appeared in a Hostress ad?
3.  Who encountered Pigeon Person?
4. Which actual super-villain appeared in an ad with no superheroes?
5.  Spider-Man once encountered a villain with the same name (and spelling) and similar motif as an actual villain of his but it was not the same character. Which one?
6. Which devil appeared in multiple Hostess ads?
7. Former Hostess villain Icemaster was a part of this event that impacted multiple titles, though he only appeared in one title himself
8. Which martial artist did Spider-Man battle?
9. When Spider-Man was seeking out the Foe in a boxing match, what was the Foe disguised as??
10. Which actual avian themed DC villain appeared in Hostess ads?
11. Which actual Wonder Woman foe appeared in a Hostess ad?
12. Which ghost starred in multiple Hostess ads?
13. A subtle two parter involved which two Marvel heroes?
14. Who penciled the ad in which Mr. Fantastic fought Goldigger?
15. What three products were usually the focus of the Hostess ads?

Re: General Comics Trivia

Both of those two are correct. I hesitated to do #12 because I thought it might give a clue about #6, but it was harder to come up with 15 questions than I anticipated. Actually some of Casper''s ghostly friends probably also appeared in multiple ads, but I figured if anyone guessed, they'd go for the main one anyway.

Though you probably mean twinkies, fruit pies and cupcakes.

Re: General Comics Trivia

Those are correct. Didn't realize Penguin also went solo but I see did in Parade of Penguins..I like that in Fear Itself, Icemaster still had a confectionery addiction, though he may have since branched out from Hostess. I don't blame him if so. I love the ads but honestly Hostess products taste terrible. Actually, I don't think I tried the fruit pies, but I definitely tried the Twinkies and vaguely recall trying the cup cakes, so I don't feel the need to go for a hat trick.

Re: General Comics Trivia

All those are correct. For #1 I was going for Rocky Grimm. If memory serves (since I last read the stories in the 1980s) Grimm the Sorcerer was arguably temporarily a separate character a la Tarianna. I quite likely Sandman as a reformed villain and I thought the story where he reformed was one of Tom DeFalco's best written stories. If I'm remembering correctly, circumstances in other titles kept the Thing from staying too long with the West Coast Avengers.

One thing I wonder about Benjy: He always referred to "Thing Ring" but he wore two rings. Was the other ring just a convenient hard surface or did it serve some other pupose? Which of the rings was the Thing Ring? I'd have also liked to have seem some early adventures where he inttially ducks until he gets used to rocks flying at him.
