Another loss for fans of comics, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, etc.: David Warner, known for his appearances in such projects as The Omen, Doctor Who, Titanic, Babylon 5, Star Trek (film and tv), and as the voice of Ra's Al Ghul on Batman: The Animated Series, died July 24 at 80.

RIP Nichelle Nichols, actress best known for playing Lt. Uhura on the original Star Trek (TOS) in the 1960s, the early 1970's' Filmation cartoon based on the show (TAS), and in six movies from 1979-1992. Her presence on the show in the 60s as an African-American actress in a regular role on an American TV show was trailblazing at the (very turbulent) time, and she was part of the first interracial kiss on American TV.

I've been away so I'll list some more and add links later when less tired:

Taurean Blacque (Detective Neal Washington on Hill Street Blues)

RIP Clu Gallagher (Burt in Return of the Living Dead, the Bartender in the Feast movies)

RIP Anne Heche. Apparently her body is technically still alive but due to the severity of her brain injury resulting from a car accident she has been declared dead in the legal sense.

I haven't found an English language article, but RIP director Just Jaekin (Emmanuelle, The Story of O, Lady Chatterly's Lover, The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak)
I've debated whether or not to count him because he was more of a political figure than a pop culture figure, but RIP Mikhail Gorbachev. He did play himself in a Pizza Hut commercial and was certainly referenced in pop culture, perhaps unfairly in the Destroyer novel series.

Another borderline case that I'm counting: Elizabeth II. While not directly involved in works of fiction, she was depicted in several movies, novels, comics, etc, so indrectly left a pretty big mark in popular culture.

RIP Kitten Natividad; while mainly known for adult films, she did appear in a number of more mainstream movies (the Airplane movies, Another 48 Hrs, My Tutor)

RIP comedian Judy Tenuta, who played Lorena Bobbitt in the Weird Al music video Headline News.

RIP Dame Angela Lansbury. I know most people will remember her from Murder She Wrote, but she was also a great villain in The Manchurian Candidate.

RIP actor/musician Mike Schank, best known as a subject of the documentary American Movie, where he always seemed quite happy, if a bit wasted, despite all the chaos

The Kopsa link took me to a 12-year-old obituary for Tony Curtis.

The RIP part for Bass accidentally got attached to the link for Kopsa. I fixed the link so it should work now.
