I guess a lot of people won't know him, but if you like British SF shows you'll probably know some of his work. Writer Chris Boucher passed away on the 11th, aged 79. He's best known for writing some notable Doctor Who stories (Face of Evil, Robots of Death, Image of the Fendahl), which included creating the companion Leela for the show; he was the script editor for SF series Blake's 7, and wrote just shy of a fifth of all the episodes, including the series' bleak finale, and he created and wrote the entirety of the series Star Cops, a show that deserved a much longer run than the BBC gave it.

RIP Barbara Walters, known for her in-depth interview specials. For anyone wanting even more of a pop culture connection (though she did often interview celebrities), she was the inspiration for the SNL character Baba Wawa.
