History: Melissa Gold was born in Los Angeles, California, to Morton and Mrs. Gold. As a teenager, she was rebellious and often clashed with her father. She eventually dropped out of college and turned to a life of crime, adopting the identity of Screaming Mimi and using her powers to commit acts of theft and vandalism.

While working for the villainous Baron Zemo, she was recruited into the Masters of Evil, where she clashed with various superheroes, including the Avengers. During her time with the Masters of Evil, she became romantically involved with fellow villain, the Fixer.

After the Masters of Evil disbanded, Melissa was recruited by the hero Hawkeye to join a new team of reformed villains called the Thunderbolts. As a member of the Thunderbolts, she adopted the new identity of Songbird and worked to earn the trust of the public as a hero. She eventually became a team leader and played a crucial role in saving the world on numerous occasions.
