Name: Clippy
Origin: Microsoft Office Assistant
Bio: Clippy is a digital assistant created by Microsoft and included in the Office suite from 1997 to 2007. Designed as a friendly and helpful animated paperclip, Clippy would pop up on users' screens to offer assistance with various tasks in Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
Clippy's design featured a wireframe paperclip with googly eyes and expressive eyebrows, and he spoke in a friendly and informal tone. While some users found Clippy helpful, many others found him annoying or distracting, and he became the subject of numerous parodies and jokes.
In 2001, Microsoft replaced Clippy with a new assistant called the Office Assistant, which featured a more subdued design and offered more customization options. However, Clippy remains a memorable and nostalgic part of Microsoft's history, and his legacy has inspired a range of merchandise and fan art.
