Defining an Antihero

I was thinking of the concept of an antihero and realized it's not a term easily defined. I suspect like "superhero" the term is a bit subjective. I'm wondering if what people call antiheroes are actually two or more different phenomena. I tend to think of them as people who cross moral lines on a regular basis but normally for altruistic reasons (e.g. Wolverine, The Punisher, Remo Williams) or people whose selfishness is undercut by their conscience (e.g. Han Solo or eventually the TV version of Mick Rory). However the term also seems to be used for main characters who are clear cut villains, however likable they may be; people who are primarily out for themselves rather than others (e.g. Walter White, Vic Mackey, Tony Soprano). What are people's thoughts on the topic?
