This post will be for obscure songs (at least from a 2026 standpoint) with a pop culture bent. The shows can come from a movie, TV show or commercial, our YouTube video related to same, preferably originating there. The songs can be old or new, but try to focus on hidden gems. Songs featured in Yellow Submarine need not apply.
From the movie of the same name, Radioactive Dreams
From the PSA about teeth exercising: The Chopper.
From the movie Troma's War, Alive. Curious that the image shows characters not in the movie, but this is a post about the song not the image.
Something a lot more recent. Tying into The Boys, from the Vought International channel, Chimps Don't Cry. A few seconds made it on to the show itself, but I don't think the full song is that well known.
An extended version of the theme to the short lived series Misfits of Science, a show i remain a hard core fan of:
While the main theme to Laverne & Shirley is well known, there were a number of one time songs on the show, including The Look.

Obscure Pop Culture Song 7: April (You're No Fool) from the movie Killer Party (1986)
Obscure Pop Culture Song 8: Best Times, also from the movie Killer Party (1986). For the soundtrack alone this movie should be better known.
Obscure Pop Culture Song 9: The titular theme from the TV show That's My Bush! (2001)
Obscure Pop Culture Song 10: Shpadoinkle Day from Cannibal! The Musical (1993). This won't be the last song I post from that movie, but given how many good songs from this source, I want to space them out a bit.
Obscure Pop Culture Song 11: From the ultimately unsuccessful Metric Marvels PSAs that ran on NBC in 1978, Super Celsius
Obscure Pop Culture Song 12: The theme to Toxic Avenger Part II (1989)
Obscure Pop Culture Song 13: While the main theme to The Greatest American Hero is well known, more forgotten is the baseball themed song from one episode, The Game Goes On.

Obscure Pop Culture Song 14: Night After Night from Laverne & Shirley. Note that the lyrics are deliberately a bit sexist because of the characters doing the singing.
Obscure Pop Culture Song 15: Baby Merchant from the short lived Cop Rock. This one's arguably a bit better known than some of the others because it was shown on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
Obscure Pop Culture Song 16: A Musical Tribute to Frank from Mystery Science Theater 3000
Obscure Pop Culture Song 17: While the Star Wars theme is very well known, the version with Princess Leia singing Life Day lyrics to it from the Star Wars Holiday Special is more obscure. Not necessarily a great song but interesting.
Obscure Pop Culture Song 18. Another song that maybe isn't great but you won't forget it: Jimmy Pop from Kid Super Hour with Shazam! (jump to 3m55).
Obscure Pop Culture Song 19: From Cannibal! The Musical again: When I Was on Top of You
Obscure Pop Culture Song 20: Name Your Poison from Return of Captain Invincible. The singer is Christopher Lee.

There was a DVD release of all the Hero High cartoon bits. Sadly the DVD only has the live action segments for one episode, which is where the YouTube bits come from. I'd love to see the remaining live action bits get released or even turn up on YouTube from someone's old VHS tape, The set is worth getting because among other things, John Berwick (Rex Ruthless) and Johnny Venokur (Punk Rock) are interviewed and clearly remember the series fondly.

Obscure Pop Culture Song 22: Now You're a Man (the theme to Orgazmo). Note that the lyrics and images are played for NSFW laughs:
Obscure Pop Culture Song 23: An homage to Bye Bye Birdie, the Patio commercial song from Mad Men:
Obscure Pop Culture Song 24: SNL's Recurring Characters for Unity song:
Obscure Pop Culture Song 25: From Mystery Science Theater 3000 but riffing on music from Star Force (Fugitive Alien II), Fugitive Alien Song (Medley):
Obscure Pop Culture Song 26: Another case where people know the melody without lyrics but fewer have heard it with lyrics: Goodnight, but Not Goodbye from the Star Wars Holiday Special:
Obscure Pop Culture Song 27: Once again from Cannibal! The Musical: Let's Build a Snowman:
Obscure Pop Culture Song 28: David Bowie comes up with a song about the main character on Extras:
