All of those are correct. And apologies to zuckyd. My thoughtless blitzing in on Andy's challenges has set a bad precedent. His gentlemanly coming in one at a time with images is no match for hastily typing a text list, meaning by the time he's got his first response in, most of the easier answers are already claimed. Though Andy did it this time, I'm the one who started doing it. Mea culpa. I respectfully propose we go back to what we were originally doing, and only claim one character at a time (maybe occasionally two, if they are regular partners). I'll restrain myself from going gangbusters when I'm a player rather than the challenge originator.

Sounds fair. And I did restrain myself this time around to just 10 this time around precisely to leave some answers on the board for others.

20 the Octopus, the Spirit's arch-enemy

Looking like things have slowed down, so some clues.
17 and 19 - look to British comics of the 1970s.
3 - look to British newspaper strips.
16 - real world person, actual staff of the store at the time. As such, this one is pretty darned difficult, so if he becomes the only one left unidentified I'll name him and close this game.

Since we're coming close to another full day since the last identification, another clue for 3. Already said it is from a British newspaper strip. Adding: said strip is mostly set in outer space.

Kolvorok

Correct. Kolvorok from the newspaper strip Jeff Hawke.
The final one, #16, is former Forbidden Planet manager Paul Hudson.
