And that was the vital first step - realising that Coriolis in the Champions RPG is Donnah Hannah, who became Lady Arcane in the comic version. The other characters introduced in that scenario - Black Enchantress and Dr. Arcane - retained the same codenames, which would have made things entirely too easy.

That link was a must - to the best of my recollection, other than Liberty Girl, there is only one other link to the greater Omniverse available to Hero Comics/Heroic Publishing. Care to hazard a guess as to what that is?

Got to love Munden's - the gift that keeps on giving.

And apart from Grimjack and Boris the Bear, I can only think of one other case where you can link the characters from Australia's Cyclone Comics to the Omniverse. Again, I'll leave off saying where for a bit, in case anyone wants to try and identify it.
zuckyd1 wrote:

This one you could leave out - it doesn't actually provide any linkage; although the Elementals actually appear in this issue, they do so in an entirely separate story. The next link you provided does the job of connecting THUNDER Agents with Elementals.
zuckyd1 wrote:

And that's the other vital link - realizing that Iron Maiden is a member of the Destroyers who appeared in Comico's Elementals. The move to comics saw the Destroyers (and the entire world they lived on) shift focus to being all supernaturally empowered.
While most of the team changed without too much fuss (Ratman got a makeover to be more feral looking, Behemoth gained hair, and the others transferred without any visible changes), the technologically themed Iron Maiden was replaced by Cicada, still a woman empowered by armor, but magical armor instead. We never really got to know who was inside that armor to begin with (it changed users part way through the series), so while Cicada is Iron Maiden's equivalent on the revised team, we can't say for sure that she's a counterpart.
Interestingly, we could potentially cut a link in that chain, as Death Duel With the Destroyers includes this page:
We can't say for sure that the Morningstar here is a counterpart to the Morningstar of the Elementals, but it seems probable that just like the Destroyers, the comic book version evolved from the game version.

No idea. I would have expected a character like Flare to have had crossover appearances.

You'd think Flare, given she's Hero's most prominent character, and indeed she does provide the glue holding that particular line together, playing the role of Hero's Spider-Man - the person everyone else teams up with. However she hasn't had any intercompany meetings other than the Southern Knights, and that crossover doesn't get us out into the Omniverse because afaik the Knights have no other crossovers to other realities.
Nope,I am thinking of someone who isn't considered a Hero Comics character...

And that's the one I was referring to. It's an unnamed cameo, but an authorized one.

Shazbat. They don't. Forget what I said - I have no idea why, but my brain had a wobble here. For some reason my mind conflated the THUNDER Agents and the Justice Machine, and though one part of my brain knew the connection you were actually making, the part controlling my response decided you were linking the Agents to the Elementals via the Justice Machine Annual, rather than Agents to Justice Machine, and then Justice Machine to Elementals. It then compounded my stupidity by continuing to treat the JM as the Agents when it came to the JM/Elementals crossover.

I'm doing well today. Yes, Chrysalis. Cicada is an insectoid villain in another Villains and Vigilantes module; Chrysalis is the Destroyer in a somewhat insectoid armor.

1) A counterpart of Jerry, Captain Cornelius, met the Doctor in the novel The Coming of the Terraphiles.
Since this was penned by Moorcock, this is an official appearance, thus beating (for example) the possibility of linking through LoEG.
2) The Doctor has met the crew of the USS Enterprise-D in Assimilation, including Picard.
3) Picard met Captain Janeway in Star Trek: Nemesis
4) Janeway met the cast of Frasier, minus Dr. Frasier Crane himself. Those present include Niles Crane and Daphne Moon.
5) Daphne and Niles appear in the Caroline in the City episode "Caroline and the Bad Back" - they don't actually meet any of the CitC characters, but do discuss Caroline's comic strip.
6) Caroline meets Joey and Chandler in the Friends episode "The One With the Baby on the Bus"
7) Ursula Buffay dated Joey on Friends.
8) Ursula originated on the series Mad About You, appearing in many episodes and interacting with the leads Jamie and Paul.
9) Paul sublet his apartment to Cosmo Kramer in Mad About You Season 1.8 "The Apartment"
10) Cosmo was a regular on Seinfeld, interacting with Jerry throughout the series.

I should add - since I believe the only route available to Vin Diesel involves what might be an unauthorized appearance, I'm willing to bend the normal rules and use unauthorized cameos from real world people for this challenge.
Not sure if this one will pass muster, but it’s the best I could come up with.
1) Geezel and Snarf appeared in the "Snarfquest" strip in Dragon #88.
2) Snarf and Phil Foglio appeared in the "Order of the Stick" strip in Dragon #359.
3) Phil Foglio and Gordon Munden appeared in Grimjack #15.
4) Gordon Munden and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appeared in Grimjack #26.
5) The Turtles, Archie Andrews, and Jughead Jones appeared in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures Spring 1991.
6) Archie and Jughead viewed a strangely familiar actor named Jin Wiesel on TV in Jughead and Archie Double Digest #6.

That's pretty good considering I threw the real world Vin Diesel in there, and since he's not (afaik) had any authorized appearances in fiction that I know of, I don't feel I can deny it.
The route I had come up with when I suggested the challenge was this:
1) Geezel to Snarf as you suggested.
2) Likewise, Snarf via Dragon Magazine#359, but to the Order of the Stick characters who also appeared in said story.
3) Order of the Stick to D&D creator Gary Gygax, who appeared as a posthumous tribute.
4) And from Gary Gygax to Vin Diesel, as Vin appeared in Rise of the Dungeon Master, the comic formatted biography of Gary.
Gary also made a posthumous memorial appearance in another strip - iirc, Nodwick - which could replace Order of the Stick if needed.

1) The Monkees appeared alongside the Bradys in The Brady Bunch Movie - it's arguable that this wasn't their fictional characters but the real world people, but the lines are very blurred between the real world Monkees and their "characters" so I think it's permissible.
2) The Monkees met the Penguin, as portrayed in character by Burgess Meredith, in their TV show's episode "The Monkees Blow Their Minds."
3) The Penguin fought Scooby Doo in two episodes of The New Scooby Doo Movies.
4) Scooby met Josie and the Pussycats in another of those movies
5) And Josie McCoy appeared in #48 of Bingo's own comic, That Wilkins Boy.
You could swap out 1 with Mike appearing alongside his kids in most episodes, then replace 2 and 3 with:
the Brady children meeting Superman in The Brady Kids' episode "Cindy's Super Friend"
then Superman meeting Scooby in Scooby Doo Team-Up.
or you could replace Superman with Wonder Woman (who also met the Brady Kids in their cartoon), and then link her to Scooby via either Scooby Doo Team-Up or an episode of the recent series Scooby Doo and Guess Who.
That's assuming we can't use the mention of Gotham City in Archie vs Punisher to link Archie to DC directly, or allow Superman and Jughead both appearing on Sesame Street (fully authorized cameos!) as a link, since afaik Superman at least didn't interact with anyone from the show, only appearing as inserts using old cartoon footage with new dialogue.

1) The Monkees appeared alongside the Bradys in The Brady Bunch Movie.
2) Davy Jones (in flashback) and Bingo Wilkin appeared in The Archies #5

Yep, that's definitely shorter, especially as the appearance of the entire Monkees group, identified by name on the cover of The Archies#4, makes it look like this was an authorized appearance.

Hadn't known about the Monkees one. My route would have been:
Mike Brady to Brady Kids on Brady Bunch.
Brady Kids to Superman or Wonder Woman on Brady Kids.
Superman or Wonder Woman to Batman in lots of places but let's go with Justice League.
Batman to Predator in Batman vs. Predator.
Predator to Jughead in Archie vs. Predator.
Jughead to Bingo in Jughead & Friends Digest #5.
So a longer route but at least it would have involved Predator.
I suspect after tomorrow, if you ever to an "exact versions" one (and I appreciate the reasoons for not doing that), there will be a few more shorter paths.

One I hope should be an interesting challenge, if only at one end. I figured this could be done using public domain characters but I've just worked out there is at least one route (probably more) via all authorized, if somewhat unorthodox, appearances.
From
Conan
to
Detective Conan
Conan's got plenty of routes to and from the Omniverse, but we've not touched on too many Anime/Manga types and getting to them.

Interesting, and well done! That uses some of the steps from the route I'd figured out, going via the Martin Mystere comics to the cartoon to Totally Spies and then Amazing Spiez, but I didn't know about the upcoming Batman / Martin Mystere crossover (so thanks! One to look forward to) and thus went via Marvel - once you get to Spider-Man, Wolverine or Doctor Doom (for example), they've all met the Italian character Rat-Man in his comics.
Since the publisher was Panini, who held the license for Marvel reprints, these were considered authorized, and so we're not talking little cameos or renamed versions to avoid lawsuits (at least, not until the reprints); these were full on crossovers.
From Rat-Man you can get to Italian detective character Lazarus Ledd

And Martin Mystere has turned up in Ledd's title; they didn't meet, but Ledd watched him being interviewed on TV.

In other words, not recognising that Darklon IS Darklore (which he is, btw - the handbooks couldn't officially acknowledge it, but it's really obvious).
So:
1) Darklon to Vampirella when they joined other Warren heroes as the Time Force in Eerie#130
2) Vampirella fought Kulan Gath in Prophecy
3) Gath fought the Avengers, including Iron Man, in Avengers#28-30
4) Iron Man and Darklore both appeared in Warlock Chronicles#1

1) Darklon to Vampirella when they joined other Warren heroes as the Time Force in Eerie#130
2) Vampirella fought Kulan Gath in Prophecy
3) Gath fought the Avengers, including Iron Man, in Avengers#28-30
4) Iron Man and Darklore both appeared in Warlock Chronicles#1
How about...
1) Darklon appeared with Doctors Hoffsteader and Bell of New England's Wildwood Hospital (and hospital patient Barry Bauman is mentioned) in Eerie #100.
2) Doctors Hoffsteader and Bell of New England's Wildwood Hospital, hospital patient Barry Bauman, and Adam Warlock appeared in Warlock #13.
3) Adam Warlock and Darklore appeared in Warlock Chronicles #1.

Hmm. Interesting. I'd heard about the cameo in Eerie at some point, and then forgotten it. At one level it's an unauthorized cameo, since the respective companies presumably didn't sign off on the use of characters they would legally own, plus there's no actual appearance of Bauman, the two doctors are in silhouette for the entirety of the Eerie story, and Hoffsteader (whose name is far less commonplace than Bell's) isn't actually named in Eerie. BUT given it's Wildwood, given that Bauman and Bell's names are used, that the silhouettes match the appearances of the two characters in Marvel, and the same writer in both cases (Starlin, who has a track record of such cross company character usage), there's no doubt it's intended to be the same people. And I think the thing that clinches it for our purposes is that it is the same writer AND the same names - if another writer had used these elements, it could be put down as a "nod and wink homage" to the first writer's story, and thus fall firmly into the unofficial cameo category; if was the same writer but he'd changed names slightly to avoid copyright concerns (just as we have with Mantis/Willow/Lorelei or Darklon and Darklore!), I'd be reluctant to permit them being ruled the same person for linkage purposes (even though we know they are intended to be, and would be for profiling).
So, I conclude (in a longwinded way) that yes, that route beats mine.

Fairly certain that unauthorized links are the only ones available at the front end of this challenge, so no penalties for using same.

Actually he is, on page 5. I missed it at first as well.

Re: Luke Skywalker to the Doctor:
Luke Skywalker appeared with other Star Wars characters on an episode of the Muppet Show, with Luke appearing in Pigs in Space.
On a whim I just Googled Muppets Doctor Who. This appears to be some sort of authorized live show, also Pigs in Space (10th Doctor).

Yep - the link between Luke Skywalker and the Doctor is Miss Piggy!

I stand (well, sit at my computer) corrected.

1) Emi and Ken Washio are both regular characters in Infini-T Force.
Ken is originally from the anime series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. When it was adapted into English as Battle of the Planets, his name was changed to Mark.
2) Mark and Lion-O appeared in Battle of the Planets/Thundercats #1.
3) Lion-O and Superman appeared in Superman/Thundercats #1.
4) Superman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appeared in the video game Injustice 2.
5) The Turtles and Fox Mulder appeared in The X-Files/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:Conspiracy #1.
6) Fox Mulder and John Munch appeared in the X-Files fifth season episode “Unusual Suspects”.
7) John Munch is an acquaintance of Luther, as revealed in the fifth episode of Luther.
The Munch mention in Luther is probably unauthorized (although Munch did make an authorized appearance in Luther star Idris Elba’s previous series The Wire). The only other Luther connections that I could turn up was a BBC advertisement teaming him with Sherlock’s Sherlock Holmes and The Fall’s Stella Gibson and a mashup video posted by the BBC that depicts Luther’s Alice Morgan and Killing Eve’s Villanelle having a conversation.
