Amateur Profiles (Marvel Multiverse): Rules & List of Profiles

Inspired by an old thread (Marvel Handbooks: Amateur Submissions, found in the Marvel section), here is a section where people can make unofficial amateur Handbook profiles).
The rules:

  • Each profile is a separate post. Don’t post here.
  • Put everything related to the Marvel Multiverse in the Marvel section and everyone else in the non-Marvel section. For Earth-Crossover and similar situations, either is okay but pick one, not both so that the feedback is in one thread.
  • The first post should be just the profile to allow for easy modification/presentation. Put any explanations in the second post.
  • Follow the 2006-on format as closely as possible (so that format instead of Who’s Who for DC characters). Power Numbers can substitute for Power Grid if you don’t want to recreate the Power Grid (most people probably won’t want to).
  • If you originally submitted your profile to the above thread, okay to repost, but incorporate any prior feedback from users.
  • Images welcomed but not mandatory.
  • If there is anything you feel you can’t answer, put in “INFO NEEDED”. Hopefully someone else can suggest things. Height and weight will probably be hard for most submitters, and you may not have access to a key issue.  If there are a lot of things you can’t answer, it might not be worth submitting the profile, but don’t abandon a profile entirely if you’re stuck on a few minor points.
  • Put History in order of perspective from the profile, not publication order. Start the history with the first known bit of history. Don’t bother saying that anything before that is unknown.
  • Use “unrevealed” instead of “unknown” with rare exceptions (obviously no one will insist that a profile be named Omega the Unrevealed).

  • Where possible don’t make stuff up. In some cases educated guesses are allowed (Height and Weight mainly; most characters don’t weigh themselves on panel) but be prepared to justify such things. Use extra caution in the History and Powers about making things up. Stan Lee in particular tossed a lot of stuff out there and never mentioned them again. It’s usually okay to just ignore knows. Only add to the History where absolutely unavoidable and then either use “through unrevealed means” or use the simplest possible explanation. For stuff like Mr. Fantastic being the world’s foremost judo expert and Donald Blake building an android, look the other way. Nothing to see here.  Any resurrections that were never explained are “through unrevealed means”. Ditto any powers that aren’t explicitly stated in terms of origin. Don’t assume that everyone who has powers without explanation is a mutant. Contest of Champions is a good example of an extreme case where a new explanation was unavoidable as that tie was a serious plothole. There the writer took the simplest explanation (one side wins in the event of a tie) rather than making up a whole new competition with other heroes.

  • Okay to profile characters who have had official profiles but explain why you went with a different take (e.g. disagreed with the original writer’s take; not profiled since the 1980s).
  • Look to Stuart’s post from Feb 21, 2011, 5:35 pm in the old Marvel Amateur Submissions post for additional guidelines.
  • Be prepared to edit profiles from feedback from other participants, unless their feedback is deemed invalid.
  • While Handbook writers might opt to chime in with feedback, that’s entirely up to them. Unless they explicitly say they’ll get back to you and then you haven’t heard from them in a month or so, don’t pester the handbook writers.

Adding space in the hopes that this takes off enough that I'll need the room for character listings.
