Spider-Man (Parker Brothers/Atari 2600 Video Game)

Real name: Unrevealed; possibly Peter Parker
Aliases: None
Occupation: Unrevealed
Identity: Secret
Citizenship: presumably USA of his Earth; no known criminal record
Place of Birth: Unrevealed
Known Relatives: None
Group Affiliation: None
Education: Unrevealed
First Appearance: Spider-Man video game (1982)
History: Alerted to that fact that the Green Goblin and his henchmen had planted bombs in various buildings, with a super bomb planted at the top of each building, Spider-Man sought out the buildings to defuse the bombs. At each building He climbed his way to the top to stop the super bomb, in the process putting out some of the regular bombs and defeating some of  the Goblin’s henchmen. The Green Goblin somehow detected Spider-Man’s arrival at each building and hovered below the super bomb to try to prevent Spider-man from defusing it. Occasionally Spider-Man ran out of web fluid and fell to his death, but was revived in a new body each time. Finally he defused the final super bomb in the last building.
Height: 5’10”
Weight 167 lbs
Eyes: Unrevealed, possibly hazel
Hair: Unrevealed: possibly brown
Abilities/Accessories: Spider-Man has a limited amount of web fluid that he is able to shoot from his head. If the web hits part of a building, Spider-Man is able to use the webbing to swing or to climb to the point where the web attached itself to. The webbing cannot be attached to windows, bombs, or people. The webbing works for a limited time and exceeding that amount of time will cause Spider-Man to fall to his death. Spider-Man can somehow replenish his web fluid by touching criminals (which knocks them out) or by touching bombs (thus defusing them) suggesting that he is some sort of energy vampire; defusing bombs that are about to go off rejuvenates his web fluid to a greater degree than defusing bombs that are still dormant. Criminals can cut his web line and bombs can also cause Spider-Man to fall, but other than the super bomb detonating, Spider-man can reattach his webbing to the building if he has a sufficient amount left.

In the event of Spider-Man’s death, he has additional number of bodies he can transfer to, and defeating a sufficient bomb of henchmen and defusing a sufficient number of bombs, particularly super bombs will result in additional bodies.

Spider-Man is vulnerable to the Green Goblin and touching him or his glider (by body or web fluid) will cause him to fall. Curiously the Green Goblin only seems to be able to move back and forth by the super bomb, suggesting that Spider-Man’s presence somehow limits his movements.

The source of Spider-Man's powers are unrevealed. However, the way his web fluid works suggests that it's a part of him and not simply part of his costume.

Power Numbers (as best can be determined):
Intelligence:  4
Strength: 4
Speed: 3
Durability: 2/5*
Energy Projection: 4**
Fighting Skills: 4

* The 5 reflects the serial immortality. ** Reflects his web fluid.

Re: Spider-Man (Parker Brothers/Atari 2600 Video Game)

I used some bits of information from the hardcover Spider-Man profile. However, I also wanted to accurately reflect the Atari 2600 limited graphics game play and describe his powers as they were presented in the game, even if it contradicts how we normally see Spider-Man. Amusingly when you look at things from that perspective, he comes across as more an energy vampire than the Peter Parker we know, so I only matched the 616/Prime Spider-Man sparingly. I considered suggesting that the Goblin was a robot and not the real villain, but the packaging treats the Goblin as the real version on that world.

The modern handbooks dropped mentioning "no known criminal record" for space purposes. Basically, we'll tell you if there is a criminal record, so you can deduce "no known" by default if we don't mention one.

Multiple uses of building in only a short space of time (and the above aren't the last uses in the profile). Not wrong per se, but over repetition of any word is something to try and look out for; if it happens, try to see if there's any way to amend it (thesaurus and synonyms are your friends).

Minor typos: Unneeded capital H for He, and missing capital for Man in Spider-Man.

Perhaps
Alerted to that fact that the Green Goblin and his henchmen had planted explosives in various buildings, with a super bomb planted at the top of each structure, Spider-Man sought to locate and defuse the devices. At each site he ascended to the top to stop the super bomb, battling past Goblin henchmen and disarming the lesser explosives en route. Despite occasionally running out of web fluid and falling to his death, Spider-Man persevered thanks to his ability to repeatedly revive in a new body. Alerted to Spider-Man’s interference at each building, the Green Goblin personally assumed guard of the final super bomb to prevent Spider-Man defusing it, but was ultimately defeated by the web-slinger.

From his head?!? Just checking that's not a mistype; I know the computer games can be weird.

Try:
The webbing can stick to buildings, enabling Spider-Man to swing or climb to where it has attached itself, but only works for a limited period before detaching, potentially causing the hero to plummet to his death if he does not replace it with a new line in time; the webbing can also be cut by criminals or broken by explosions, and cannot attach directly to windows, bombs or people.

Try:
Apparently able to drain energy, Spider-Man can knock criminals out or disable bombs, both by single touch; explosives about to detonate provide more power than dormant ones. This stolen vitality replenishes his webbing and even allows him to escape death by generating new bodies when sufficient is absorbed.

Spider-Man and the Green Goblin seem mutually vulnerable to one another; physical contact with the Goblin or his glider, whether direct or via webbing, causes Spider-Man to fall, while the web-slinger's proximity seemingly limits Goblin's mobility, restricting him to the vicinity of the final super bomb.

Re: Spider-Man (Parker Brothers/Atari 2600 Video Game)

Thank you for the feedback, Loki. Will edit later. But to answer the one question, yes, they showed the web coming from his head, despite at least one ad to the contrary. This article has some images at the bottom. http://www.consoleclassix.com/atari-2600/spider_man.html. My guess is that it with the limited graphics of the Atari 2600, which were limited even by the standards of other video game systems of that era such as Intellivision, placing the web fluid from the head was to make it easier for the player to determine whether to send the web upper left, directly upward, or upper right.
